Major Flooding Incident Boscastle & North Cornwall.

Canworthy Water
Here are the first photographs on the site to feature what happened in the inland village of Canworhty Water. These photographs were taken by Debbie Flisher who lives in the village not far from the River Ottery.
The water level and extent of the flooding can clearly be seen. A number of fire crews attended the area in search and rescue tasks. Those shown in the picture are from Bere Alston [Devon] who were mobilised from stand by duties at Launceston. They evacuated a number of people to safe ground but a Search and Rescue Helicopter had to be called in to rescue some people from a near by roof.
A large part of the village was very badly damaged by the floodwater and a number of vehicles were washed away.
Above: A local resident is led to safety by Bere Alston firefighters
Below: As the water level rises the Renault car is actually floating away.
Below: The RAF Search and Rescue helicopter arrives in the village to rescue people from roof tops.
